At the screening, we'll announce both the judges' and audience's choice for the winning film. We will do our best to facilitate each team having all the equipment required for basic filmmaking, but any contributions of bringing your own equipment would be much appreciated.įollowing the completion of the films, we will be hosting a screening of them on campus the night of Sunday the 10th of October. To shoot docu-fiction hybrid All These Sleepless Nights, DIY master Michal Marczak built a custom rig, used practical lights, and recorded all of his dialogue in ADR. The judges are looking for films that display creativity in the context of the limitations that the challenge imposes. The challenge is NOT about making the best looking film- you won't be able to rent out the BlackMagic 4K for example, or any lights. It would be rude not to give prizes to the winners… The teams will then have until 18:00 on Sunday to complete the film, when they will submit the films to us and they will be judged by a small panel. It will start at 18:00 on Friday, where instructions and certain constraints will be given. The challenge will take place over 3 days. All footage must be shot and edited during the 48 hour period. The film will have to include a specific line of of dialogue and a specific prop, to be announced on Friday night. You will be told which team you’re in by 16:00 on Friday 8th as we aim for a 19:00 start to the challenge. Sign up here before 23:59 on Thursday 7th. We’re looking for several teams of up to 6 people to compete. The challenge is always really good fun, and a great way to get to know fellow UCL students with an interest in film. The aim is to write, shoot and edit a film within a 48 hour period, with a limited crew, equipment, resources and, of course, time. Sign up here for the 48 hour film challenge, taking place over the weekend of the 8th-10th of October. ![]()
